Televisa Studio Set | 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup | Johannesburg

Televisa, a large Mexican broadcaster appointed Set Squared to build their studio set in South Africa for the broadcasting of the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup. The 360’ set was divided into two function areas: a technology set with all the latest in touch screen innovation to replay and analyse the soccer games and an African themed studio space from where the live broadcasting and interviewing took place.

Work began in March 2010 with the building of the curved, illuminated ceiling bulkheads; backlit feature wall; the large curved benches in the African themed studio; the sloping broadcasters’ desk and the revolving stage for the technology chair.

The floor in the technology set replicated a soccer field, illuminated with LED lights. The African space portrayed the culture of the continent with a mixture of mud and stone finished walls, a bamboo ceiling, African curios, drums and animals, a beautiful glass coffee table in the shape of the African continent and a wall of African masks.

Meticulous planning, a strict schedule and attention to detail were what allowed Set Squared to deliver a world class product and service to our Mexican client.
